Genshin Impact: A World of Gaming

I love playing PC games. Well, only two in particular. If you haven’t guessed already, my particular poison is Genshin Impact at the moment. Although, I do love the Sims, too. I’ve been playing Genshin Impact on a serious level since September last year. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see I often go on photo-safaris and just take random pictures of where I am in-game with Genshin Impact. Sims I do the same. As you can see, I love my games. With all my work lately, it’s made it difficult, but it is a great way to detox. I often play it on weekends.

People used to believe that you couldn’t make a living off of gaming. As of recent years, this has proven to be entirely inaccurate. Gamers that stream their gameplay on Twitch or Youtube can make serious money. In one of my previous articles, I stated that YouTube is the second-largest social media platform worldwide and streamers who utilize this knowledge can make quite a good amount of money. A gamer can easily make $10,000 a month just playing games. That sounds like a healthy income. However, like anything in life, you don’t just walk in and start raking in the big bucks. You need to work hard at your gaming and put effort into it. Starting a Twitch or YouTube account is easy, but the amount of money you make is exactly proportional to the amount of work you put in.

Last years’ statistics show us a major increase in gamers and the numbers keep on growing. In 2015 there were almost 2 billion gamers worldwide, this number is expected to increase to over 3 billion gamers. Last year there was 3.2 million gamers. With all the YouTube videos and tutorials/walkthroughs for games, it’s no surprise that people would feel inclined to play these games. I was introduced to my first MMORPG by a family member and have been addicted ever since. These are just a few examples of how games get popularized.

Along with the rise in gamers, come the rise of gaming communities. Known as the new borderless, global cities; these communities have spread far and wide all over the globe with the help of the internet as well as in-game communication between players. Gamers are over a third of the global population. With these numbers, they are classified as megacities. Unlike other cities defined by borders, these cities are solely defined by interests. With these games getting better and better each year, they have created vast worlds for you to explore online as well as interact with other players as though interacting with normal people.

Communities such as Reddit, Twitch and Facebook create platforms whereby these gamers can communicate, share strategies, and even create other gamer clubs. Discord is another popular platform where this is possible.

These digital megacities have taken over and are now the major social media means by which people can communicate. Gaming has moved from something done in isolation to becoming a worldwide social phenomenon. This is a good thing, since people who maybe can’t interact with other people can still interact on a social level with other and maybe even start to make some friends online. Like anything, you need to be careful who you interact with online.

God bless you, all my darling avidReaders 🙂
